About EarningsTape
A free, independent tool for following U.S. public-company earnings releases as they happen.
What we do
EarningsTape is a real-time monitor for U.S. corporate earnings announcements. Every weekday, hundreds of publicly traded companies in the United States file form 8-K with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to disclose material events to shareholders. One of the most-watched categories of 8-K filings is Item 2.02 — Results of Operations and Financial Condition, which contains a company's quarterly or annual earnings release.
EarningsTape watches the SEC's live filing feed, identifies new 8-K filings that include Item 2.02, fetches the official press-release exhibit, and extracts the headline diluted EPS and total revenue figures. The results are presented on the home page in a clean, sortable table that updates automatically every few seconds — no refresh required.
Why we built it
Earnings are one of the most important catalysts in equity markets. Professional traders, journalists, and active investors pay heavily for terminals that surface these numbers within seconds of filing. Yet the underlying data — every 8-K and every press release — is published by the SEC in the public domain and is free to access. EarningsTape exists to make that real-time stream available to everyone, in a format that is easy to scan even outside of market hours.
Where the data comes from
Every number on EarningsTape comes directly from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system. The site does not relicense data from third-party news wires, brokerages, or financial data vendors. Each row in the table includes a link back to the original 8-K index page on sec.gov, as well as a direct link to the company's press-release exhibit, so anyone can verify the source.
What EarningsTape is not
EarningsTape is not a brokerage, an investment advisor, or a financial data terminal. It does not provide analyst consensus estimates, beat/miss calculations, real-time stock prices, or trade execution. It is a one-purpose tool: surface every U.S. earnings release the moment it is filed with the SEC, and link to the source. For full analysis, fundamentals, or trading, please use a dedicated platform.
Who runs the site
EarningsTape is operated independently. The site is supported by display advertising; we do not sell user data, do not run paywalls, and do not maintain user accounts. For questions, corrections, or partnership inquiries, see the contact page.
